Projects - From Google Docs

Things I am currently working on:

  • brendoman.com the book is back in full swing. I'm currently up to January 2004 in the archives and I've created a pretty decent annotated list of notable posts. Once I have it all compiled we'll see what we can do with it and turn it into a collaborative effort, giving the authors a chance to comment on their posts or contribute additional stuff. I just think that I'm being super productive right now making this first pass through all the content on my own. I'm using Google Notebook to clip the entries and will then import it into Google Docs. Very nice.
  • various stuff at pop.vox.music including promoting our two new CD's, an upcoming show, and just general site maintenance.
  • Trying to post more at brendoman.com .
  • SCHOOL. I'm almost done with my second full semester. I'll be done with my computer programming and web development certificates in May. Where to go from there? I'm not quite sure.

In addition to all this "work," I also occupy my time with something resembling a social life as well as copious amounts of XBOX, WoW, movie watching, and Tivo. It's a busy life indeed.

note: I STILL can't get titles to work from Google Docs. Maybe I'm missing something.

Nice...

So there are some things in the new Blogger that I would really like to see in other blogging engines, especially b2evolution since that is what we use at brendoman.com. I love how easy it is to add page elements. It took me two seconds to add a site feed from our site. If I wanted to do that with our b2e install I would have to go into our skin file and add a few lines of code. It also wouldn't look as pretty. If I wanted to make it look right I would have to go into the config files for Magpie. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind Magpie or b2e, I just dig how easy it is with Blogger. Maybe this will give some developers a kick in the pants to improve their own software. Maybe it will give folks like me the kick in the pants they need to go and do their own thing, something they've been wanting to do for some time.

Posting from Google Docs

This is neat. But there appears to be no "undo" option if you make a serious mistake like accidentally deleting a bunch of text like I did. There is a nifty right-click menu, but no "undo." Still, very cool. Let's add an image from my hard drive:

Okay, I found the undo button, but it wouldn't undo the table I created. And there appears to be no text wrapping options for images. You can save in multiple formats, which is really cool. This might be a good option for the brendoman.com book project since you can add collaborators and such. I like the spellcheck. This has some serious potential and could be yet another great Office alternative. Very cool.

Addendum:

How do I get titles to work from Google Docs? I checked the box for it, but it's not working. I had to edit this post in Blogger to add the title.

Hello New Blogger

Howdy. I don't want anyone snatching up my name on blogspot. Maybe I'll post some clips here or what not. I've also got my shared Google Reader items in the sidebar.
